We have thatch! We are pleased to say that with the thatch laid, the new chimneys and exterior walls finished, the pub is now resembling the building that we all have such fond memories of. Inside the pub we still have work to do. After a long summer of hard work and a few inevitable hitches along the way, we are pleased to say that we will be reopening The Three Blackbirds with bedrooms in Spring 2020.

BUILDING BEGINS ON THE 'THREE' BLACKBIRDS

We are excited to say that work on rebuilding our historic inn began earlier this month. We are equally as excited to say that when we reopen later this year we will open as The Three Blackbirds.

While devastation caused by the fire is still evident, we are often taken aback by what survived. One such survivor is our cherry tree, seen here in full bloom amongst the scaffolding and building materials. The tree was planted by the Blackbirds team almost 20 years ago in memory of Tom. Tom worked in the kitchen and was the son of Chris Winch, a valued friend of the pub.

Last year extensive work took place in preparation for the rebuilding process. This included removing tonnes of debris and underpinning the property. By March 2019 the building was fully stripped back and ready for the building team to roll up their sleeves and get to work restoring...

We are thrilled to announce that Listed Building Consent has been granted for our wonderful pub and work will begin this coming January and we look forward to reopening in Autumn 2019.

We can't wait to reinstate our cosy pub cherished by so many, offering a warm welcome to all our guests with a seasonal food and drinks menu that celebrates the very best of the region’s provenance.

All of us here at The Blackbirds Inn are looking forward to welcoming you back late next year. In the meantime, we will be sure to keep you posted on our

construction progress.

The Chestnut Group can confirm that its insurance company has accepted liability for the fire that took place at The Blackbirds Inn, Woodditton, on the 2nd March.

Now that we have received this confirmation, we are in a position to move forward and focus our energies on reinstating the building.

This will involve working with multiple external parties, including the planners in partnership with the Heritage Officer to ensure that the building is reinstated with respect to its historic significance.

We would like to once again thank the local community for their continued
support.

The Chestnut Group will provide updates as we move forward with the work required on The Blackbirds Inn.

Following the devastating fire on the 2nd March at The Blackbirds Inn, we would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support and the fire brigade for their quick response and tremendous efforts in such awful conditions.

The management at The Blackbirds Inn and its parent company, The Chestnut Group, are working with the Fire Brigade to establish the cause of the fire and in due course will be working with the planners and the Heritage officer to rebuild this much loved, historically relevant building.
